“I get satisfaction of three kinds. One is creating something, one is being paid for it and one is the feeling that I haven't just been sitting on my ass all afternoon.”

INTRODUCTION

I'm Mike Manzi - an artist and designer who uses color and composition as my means of creation and expression. Primarily a pastel artist, this year I've been working in acrylics as a means of creating more art as part of my #arteveryday challenge to myself.

My pastel pieces are defined by their large scale and torn edges. I've worked in pastels since the early 90's and my style has evolved from looser, more personal works to tighter, more controlled abstracts and geometrics. Click here to view.

My acrylic paintings are pure expressionism; I'm having fun playing around with different color combinations and dry brush techniques. Current pieces are more colorful and complex but I am working on creating softer, less intense pieces with a more subdued palette. Click here to view.

With exhibitions in Western Massachusetts and several pieces published in local newspapers and magazines, my artwork has found homes in cities across the country. I was also a featured artist in Springfield, MA's Art & Soles public art project aka the Big Shoe in 2010! Click the sneaker below to view!
